OK, holidays are over, still have not gone any further on the Snowflake with James coral, but finally getting close to the end of the tunnel with One piece of Fire Agate. Take one, make two. 6 x 4 cm in size, Negrita mine. Still needs general clean-up and deepening for proper setting of sapphire. Then its on to the back of it. There is a nice surface, so I'm planing to carve something there to make it a reversible pendant. Now its also time to reveal the second piece coming out of this piece of rough. 7 x 5 cm and in places the curvature spans up to an inch deep. la fuego serpiente Thats the colour you get at any given time (here out-doors on overcast sky). If it is hit by any other light, all the colours within light up pending on strength and angle. Here is a hint of whats hiding (in water under the sun). Tomorrow, will have a third piece to add with the brightest green I have ever worked thus far. Best regards, Kurt

Those are turning out awesome. That stone sure beats the Arizona stuff. Jim For me, it sure does. Have struggled with US material for nearly 2 years and got nothing really to show for. The Mexican material got me into this mess and still gets me 8 to 9 out of ten pendants that I attempt.

Kurt, I think it's only me, Mel and jean that like reptiles. All the rest of them's folks is a scared of them. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for fire agate, I can clearly see the skills, dexterity, patience and courage it takes to produce that serpent from that rough. I am in awe of the talent. Thanks for sharing.

Lets see if that works.
Video from this morning. Unfortunately, lots of construction-background-noise.

that shows the details so much better. Love the transition from shadow to sunshine, lots of good fire in there. that will need to be displayed with a little spotlight of its own, even better with a little moving turntable. Beautiful!

Thank you. Like a lot of pieces that attract me; its beauty lies in motion. One angle is simply not enough. That's the beauty of all my favorite materials. FA, Spectrolite, Pietersite and even Montanas, motion brings them to life.

Looks like a lot of material was carved away. Still cannot fathom not breaking something. Real show piece Kurt. A snake that is shedding has a bluish layer over it's eyes. It can make the snake grumpy because his eyes have hindered vision. Snake about to shed, eyes bluish, eye sight hindered, vulnerable and pissy
