I may reword this a few times and add more info but the general idea is the same.Well every season I do a alaskan rock sale of random lapidary and tumbler worthy stuff (large or small or mix you tell me). This is material that I do keep but I have a lot of so I put it in medium flat rate boxes for folks unless I run out of that material. There are 2 payments in for the box (usually) 1st is $50 covering my time / shipping after I send photos and the 2nd payment is the remainder of what you think the total value of the box is worth. I have not had anyone say that the box is valued less than $50 before but if you really think it is worth less just let me know what you think it is worth (I will know if your just trying to scam or are telling the truth). The box weighs between 20 and 30 pounds... possibly more, If I am unsure if you might want a large rock I will send photos of the specific rock and ask if you want it, no hard feelings if you don't If you are interested in things like green stones or red (darker) jasper I find a lot of those or if you don't want certain stones In the box just let me know. I am already finding some stuff for the box and already have a few people on the list. If your interested in this offer just post a reply on here and pm me your preferred contact name and email (I have people from various places so email is just easiest) When the box is ready I accept payment via money order or paypal (paid for services / object or via gift) Please note if your on the list and the season is over and I don't fill a box for you, I add you to the next years list in the same order. I will take a pic of the few rocks that I have so far in a few days to give everyone an idea.

Updated with pic... I will take a slab or 2 off the rock on the left with the blue green and red, but most of it will be going in the box. The jasper I have already taken a few slabs off but still a lot left... the rock on the right I need to look at under better light, it might not be worthy of being put in a box, all depends how much green it has.
If anyone wants that material that Is blue/red/green I know where to pick up a lot of it (probably half of a 5 gallon bucket). I have not cabbed it yet so I can't say how it will cab or slab. That was a piece that I found during work but I don't always pick them up because i'm usually trying to find agates or unique stuff..

Thought I'd make a quick list of stuff that I normally find...
Epidote, Rhyolite, Jasper (red or red/yellow mix) colored quartzite (red/green and others) darker purple and green mix jasper agatized volcanic ashes (not sure what to call it but its cool stuff)
This is just what I can think of now.

you get "red quartz" as in crystallized quartz crystals that are red? Can I see a pic of this? Do you know what metal colors this? Like this?

No my bad, I get quartz and quartzite mixed up quite a bit. The quartzite I find is a mix of a few colors red/ pink/white. I don't find a whole lot of what I consider lapidary quartzite. There is a green piece of quartzite I found last year that I haven't had time to slab.. It should make a nice cab. I'll probably keep a few slabs for myself and toss the rest in the box for someone. Unless a rock is really amazing I only keep a few slabs off the rocks.
I will probably slab the large one in the pic ether this thursday or the upcoming monday, tuesday or thursday.. I'll try to remember to throw a pic up when I do slab it

glennz01, that's some nice material ya got there! Do you know what metal colors this? @shotgunner, I think that's hematite covering the quartz, or it could be hematite inclusions in the quartz. Here's a piece of 'red-capped' hematite-covered amethyst from Canada and hematoid quartz gemstone in my collection. Red-capped amethyst from Canada Hematoid quartz (hematite inclusions in quartz)

Just realized I forgot to say the box size and approx weight The box size is a full medium flat rate weighing between 20 and 30 lbs (normally on the upper end... I think one box was closer to 35 lbs that I mailed last year). Boxes of larger lapidary rocks tend to be around the 20 mark if the person doesn't want smaller stuff as gap filler.

yeah, thanks Jan! I'm still waiting for glenn's answer. glennz01 do you have a pic of the "red quartz material? It is not crystal though, (I keep thinking quartz is the rough instead of quartzite as a mentioned in my prior post) Well I am not exactly where I put my red quartzite since I found my piece last season or the prior season, It might be in my tumbler which is on final polish. It is possible i already polished it and if so It is probably burred under the boxes I just moved out of my house / property. I will look around though because I think I should have a few pieces of it that I really liked. Again sorry for the mix up of terms

ROFL, couldn't help but chuckle after reading you 'misplaced' one of your rocks, glennz01. Been in that situation many times, and what is bad is when you panic because you cannot find it, lol. Glenn, would you please post pics of the materials that will be in the boxes when you get a chance (and after you find the rock ), and include the weight and id's of the materials?

I will do that,That is why I intended this as a sign up to see whom will be interested. As for ID a lot of rocks are just rocks (like the big blue/green and red one in the earlier pic), I just pick up what is cool and toss them in after I deem that it is lapidary worthy. I'm personally looking for oddball things when I ho out hounding. Imagine a rich agate field with thousands of red agates.. i'm looking for the yellow and green ones and pick up really unusual red ones so to speak. When my tumbler finishes there are examples in the batch that if they were large rough, most I would include in a box (my batch ends Tuesday). I may have some material at my old work office, i'm going to start boxing some of it up today so i'll set aside anything that could go in the box (but i'm keeping for some strange reason As for what I boxed up.. i'm not sure when it is going to be unboxed... All of my display rocks and everything else is in boxes and I don't have a key to that house yet.

I will be looking for it, I don't know exactly where it is and everything in my house has been boxed up (slowly moving to a new house that I will be living in next year) There are a few types I can say, One is a more jasper/quartzite the other is quartzite that has a nice red/peach/white mic color to it (this is the one i'm looking for, not the easiest to find hounding ether as I find maybe 5 fist sized stones per year) Please be patient with me, I will get a pic when I find it. I can say if this winter keeps up like it has been It is possible i can get a box of assorted material possibly by the end of may... It might go hounding soon with the unusual rain... at least in the lower elevation spots.

I have some single crystals that I collected, maybe a few small clusters. Not like that pic you posted but pretty. I know where to get more from the source too back in Texas. Sorry Glenn, don't mean to hijack your post. You can PM me directly if you want Scott. Single ones like this, about an inch long. A variety before cleaning The best cluster that I found at this location: ~Roland

They will see photographs all that is in it once I have it full. signing up is not a commitment, it is just saying that they are interested. If I can find the red quartzite (enough to fill some sort of box) shotgunner is signed up. I thought I made that clear on the first post, I guess I will have to reword it.
