I got a few new rocks in the mail last week from member orrum and was anxious to cut into at least one of them so I choose this one. It was labeled "purple jasper agate" from Earp, California. I am not sure if this was self collected but it made a pretty nice cab. Maybe orrum has a story to go with the rock? The wrap is resting against the host rock Thanks for looking Chuck

Earp Ca. Named after Wyatt Earp. It's on the Az. and Ca. border. We drove back into the desert north of Parker toward the Colorado river. About 5 miles on rutted dirt roads crossing washes. Then we hiked a half mile following a wash up to a very high rock crested ridge. The place wash covered with purple agate swirly with white chips where people had chipped rocks to see if it was good stuff under the desert varnish. You had to look for a tip sticking up through the dirt and dig it out to get good ones. There is all you saw was leaverite. The Quartzsite rock club took us out there on our weekly hounding trip.
This is actually a box that Jugglerguy/Rob won in my guessing game for purple desert glass. I put some in extra nice too because Chuck sent me two Dallasite slabs and tumbles plus a groove wrap cab. Thanks a bunch Chuck!
Oh Chuck Susan got her Gryphette from Tony/ Catmandew today too!!!

Beautiful stuff but it looks like there should be the word "worm" in the name somewhere. Jim

Its always fun having a story to go with a piece. Did the Gryphette come with a slot cutter? hope she likes the new toy. Chuck
