I went shopping again at my local rock shop and bought a bunch of rocks that I don't know what they are. Any ideas? Thanks, Andrea Ok the first two I think I know. Amethyst lace and Dino bone….correct me if I'm wrong please. #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 I think the bottom left might be a small piece of peanut obsidian. #9 #10 small one cab size pieces

Top of #2 some kinda moss agate.
Top #5 looks to be a thunder egg. Bottom almost looks like fluorite, but could be wrong. Hard to tell stuff in pictures sometimes.
Top of #9 Graveyard Plume or something similar.

2 bottom looks Montanaish 4 bottom some kind of poppy jasper that could have come from many places. 5 top maybe seprarrian There has been some posted recently. 6 top looks a lot like a brecciated jasper that I find here in Wyoming 6 bottom also looks like a jasper/agate from here including the red sort of rind. 7 top again looks like a stone I find here that I am assuming is a quartz and (it is on the tip of my fingers but....) 8 top could be nephrite or serpentine 9 top agree with Bob 10 bottom two also look like jasper I have found here.
The similarities to my finds of a lot of these really surprised me. If they came from here there is no name other than Wyoming rock. Not much help Jim BTW if you would like to see some of my similar rocks I have photos somewhere.

The first stone in the first picture reminds me of a dino. head. Velociraptor maybe.

The only ones I'm confident on are in #9. As Capt. Bob said the plume may be Graveyard Point or Stinking Water. The botryoidal piece at the bottom is fire agate rough.

That top one on #1 looks like some Colorado Sow Belly Agate to me.

Yes, the bottom piece looks almost identical to the fossilized whalebone I find on California beaches.

captbob I thought that was a thunder egg in #5.@wampidy That helped a lot. Not sure where the rock shop gets their rock, maybe the do get it from Wyoming, next time I'll ask. It would be great to see pics of your similar rock. Henry I had to Google Valociraptor….kind of does look like the rock. gemfeller I have never heard of Stinking Water before…I looked it up along with Graveyard point and I guess it could be either. rockroller I had to look that up too. Sabre52 I'm not gonna question it ….I'm going with sowbelly and whalebone. Thanks everyone….I've got a lot to learn. Andrea

I had to dig from way back but I found a few that match and a few that kind of match. Going from "I recognize that rock" to "woohoo I found it" was a little more than I bargained for. lol I have a new appreciation of the number of rock photos I have. They are sorted pretty good on my computer but they are a mess on photobucket. Hope this helps a little. Jim 7 top 2 bottom 10 bottom left 10 bottom right 6 top 6 bottom I have a better example of this but can not find it.

@wampidy. Thanks Jim for posting your pictures. They do look similar. I'll check out the peridot and quartz.
