Recently back from Mexico, (San Carlos beach combing again) and concentrated on stuff that looked like orbicular rhyolites or ?? Mostly dark reddish browns, but greys, maroons etc. are also present. Even the gull head, I'd be tempted to call an agate in a brown rhyolite matrix. Clarifications are welcome. Tom

Those are pretty, Peruano! I remember your gull and love the one with the gray in it. I'll let our experts answer your question, but I don't think they have to have orbs to call them rhyolites. Searched for materials from the locality and had to chuckle since one of the search results led me to your post on here with the gorgeous pendants you made. Thought this may help: stoneplus.cst.cmich.edu/rhyolite.htm
