Howdy folks, Got in another big pile of Rio Grande material from the pebblepups today. Still washing and sorting but this is my favorite so far. Nice nodule of flowergarden plume that had broken in half. Gorgeous stuff very like Wingate plume but without the soft spots and voids....Mel

About as good as it gets, that Flowergarden. Color and pattern variations. You think it sailed down from Woodward ?
Curious if Flowergarden occurs at other locations...Mel ??

James, I guess during the pluvial periods when the Texas rivers like the Rio were huge, agate from pretty much everywhere in west Texas was washed down the river to end up in the Uvalde Gravels which are the deposits in which Rio grande agate occurs. I don't think flower garden plume is restricted to the Woodward Ranch but I think it probably is found in situ in deposits kind of localized in that west Texas region around Alpine. Got a nice hunk of Marfa type black and white plume in these last lots too. Too many types in the Rio grande stuff to even classify as to location. Even a good many poppy type jaspers and agates. Ive hounded quite a bit in west Texas but don't have any clue where those originally came from....Mel

I suppose it covers a bigger area than that considering it is fairly common way down the Rio. Must occur in other locations in W Texas. If there is an agate that is widespread, let it be that one.

That's some sweet stuff that the pebblepups brought to you, Sabre52! Love the red with the gold plumes.
