My guess is bertrandite or Tiffany stone. Don't know if it has the layers like that though, kinda lacey looking from the side.

Wow, that's a gorgeous piece of rough, riverbendlapidary! I agree with droseraguy's call, but I also wondered if it might possibly be sow belly agate?

I'm thinking Luna Agate that simply did not orb up. I've seen a couple of examples that had a more lacy pattern and only a very few orbs. Exterior of yours looks Luna to me. May be your example just doesn't have any spheres.....Mel

I see what you are saying. I have at least 100 lbs of this stuff and none of it has orbs. The estate I got it from had stuff from all over the world so no telling...

Looks like that stuff coming up from mexico that they're calling purple opal, except it isn't opal. IT's harder than all get out.

I have seen something similar but with more green in it from NM/AZ boarder.
