Howdy folks, Never get tired of sorting this stuff as here are just so many types to be found. Cleaned these up yesterday...Mel Massive probably 8-10 pounds golden filament moss/plume with botryoidal center. It was found broken like this. About a one pound fortification nodule. I'm gonna cut this one myself as I'm dying to see what's inside. Large fist sized perfect nodule that I'm certain is red and black plume. Looks just like Canadian River Plume and I'm wondering how far this puppy traveled to show up in the Rio Grande gravels.

Beautiful, Sabre52! Have you had a chance to cut 'em yet, and will you be cutting the first one or keeping it as a display?

Jan, cut the fortification and started on the plume yesterday. The other is way too big for my little saw. I'll post some pics later in the week. Fortification was disappointing as the pattern was too broad and not enough contrast. If it were smaller I would have tumbled it whole which would have been better. Just have the end cap off the plume, it was large enough it took me 25 minutes for the first cut. Also disappointing so far as so far the plume is just too densely arranged and all black on white. Got my fingers crossed it might get better but I'm thinking probably not.....Mel

Hope the plume does not disappoint, Sabre52, and hope we'll see your pics soon.
