Got back from Quartzsite yesterday, had a blast! The weather was superb, and we got to meet up with new and old friends, do some rock picking, and share some wonderful grub at the BBQ. We know not everyone was able to go, and we kind of feel sorry for you.
For those of you that missed out on Quartzsite, and the field trip to Brenda for jasper, Diane drocknut and I are offering a MFRB full of nice samples. These are ones that we collected for ourselves (i.e., nice stuff, not rejects!), then pulled some out to fill the box. Some are small chunks, worthy of a cab or two, and the rest are smaller tumbler fodder.
To win this wonderful prize, all you have to do is guess the correct mileage from the collecting site back to our camp (south of Quartzsite in Roadrunner). This will be a number somewhere between 1.0 and 50.0. Yes, I do need the tenths of a mile.
Rules as follows: Open to RTH members that did not get to go on field trip. Start guessing, I will give clues to narrow it down if it takes too long. If no one guesses the exact amount (including tenths of a mile) by Saturday 1/31/2015 at 6pm PST, it goes to the one who is closest. Good luck!@

Thanks, Mel. We stopped at an area we hadn't explored previously, and found some really nice stuff.
I'll have to take and post some pics of other material I found, some with fortifications and quartz filled vugs. The reds are spectacular!
Diane and I put together two boxes. We gave the first one away at the BBQ to the person who came the farthest to attend - lparker, all the way from New York. If he makes it home to the land of the blizzard, maybe he can let y'all know how nice it is.
Pat, thanks for the welcome back. It's good to be back, but would have liked to stay another week. (Woke up early this a.m., and thought I was still in AZ, lol.)
Rob Jugglerguy, you'd really like this material. But you'll need to pick another number, as Nancie beat you to that one.
I forgot to specify one rule, that being how many guesses you can make. You can make one guess at a time. In a day or so, if no one has guessed correctly, I will let you know that no one has the correct number yet. At that time, you can make another guess. If I tell you again no one is right, you can have another, etc. I'll even give some clues to narrow it down to make it go faster. I hope that makes sense?? |
