Not our creation, we found it at an estate sale this morning. Someone put a BUNCH of effort into making it. Has several thunderegg slabs, a couple Morrisonite Jasper slabs, agate and moss agate slabs, a few limbcast, and some pet. wood pieces, 65 pieces in all. Very well made. It weighs 26 lbs., now I have to figure out how to mount a 31" diameter plate on the wall; used to be a table, don't need another, and the legs were already gone. Likely from the 50's or 60's, not bad for $5.

Try making a giant plate holder.

In a way we wish this was a bunch of loose pieces, but nice anyway. Carol polished it today, cleaned and brightened noticeably. We have a good place to put it, not an in-your-face-place, but easy to look at up close. Now I have to hang it. Yup, super bowl, who cares, have rocks to work on.

Lots of work went in to that one. Is that concrete or an epoxy ? Great find.

There is a burger joint in Prineville, Oregon that the counter is all done that way. All local rock from what I can tell. Interesting to look at while you are waiting for your meal.

In answer to the question, it's on a piece of 3/4" plywood, and the pieces set in resin, with what looks like about 1/8" cover over the front. The back is sealed with resin too, keep it from warping. Woodman, which burger joint? We go through there at least once a year.

Wife likes their mushroom burger!

Howdy quartz if your going to hang that with one drill hole it would also make a fine clock
how much does it weigh?

That's a beautiful rock tabletop and steal of a deal, quartz. Love the t-egg halves in it. I like mohs's idea of turning it into a clock.

I appreciate the thoughts on making the tabletop into a clock, hesitant to try drilling a hole through it though. Already have one. Found this at an estate sale 3 years ago, buried in a pile of framed pictures, and in bad shape. It was covered with an oily film as if it had hung in a room with a smokey oil stove nearby. It took us about 5 hours to clean it up with baking soda and toothbrushes, and I put new clock works in it. The base is a maple burl 24 1/4" tall. This one hangs in our rock shop room. Cost me a dollar.
