I like the way agate fills the pores as if it were a sponge. Dino bone texture is a fine target for agate to fill. Lots of weathered coral has cells on the surface in hex shapes. In either case, it makes ID easy. Bet the surface is like a rasp.

Those are beautiful. There is such variety in color and texture, let alone size! I learn so much from your posts. I would not have guessed that some of those were bone, but I am getting a better idea of what to look for; maybe i'll recognize it if I ever run across it. I love that you show the rough side in many of the pictures too, that helps a lot as well. Dino bone is cooler than almost anything, I sure look forward to seeing your Dino posts! Thanks for sharing them with us.

We've been missing you and your dino bones, bhiatt. The agate with white fortification is interesting and haven't ever seen any dino bone like it before. Love the pieces with the raised cells.

the white agate one is the only one I have like this. It was recently found in an old timers back yard and it had been in his back yard for at least 50 years. Nice save.

Thanks for sharing the history of it, bhiatt, and it's good to know that you have it in your collection now where it will be taken care of. It is an unusual and beautiful piece.
