Have any of you used one? I got my hands on a 5 liter per minute unit today and would like to know what is required to start using for my Oxy/propane Little Torch

Answered my own question with a little research. all that is needed is a hose barb or other fitting to connect to the outlet on the oxy unit and a flashback arrester is recommended

I use medical oxygen bottles for smithing and use the 4 liter setting. Never used a concentrator. Seems like they might make noise? If it did it would drive me crazy.

I have two industrial Oxygen bottles, but I go through a lot of it! The concentrator was free and will potentially save me between $200 and $300 a year in oxygen They do make a little noise, but my hammering, sawing, filing and running the Foredom is noiser than the concentrator will be. I understand they have a certain number of hours they can be used for medical purposes, then must be scrapped. There are companies that rebuild them back to specs for medical use, but they are still expensive. a lot of the older models are scrapped or sold for shop use with most going from $200 to $400 on e bay and craigs list. I have a friend who is a picker as a hobby and he had 5 of them, so I snagged one really, really cheap. Two slabs of smoked ribs :-)

Great price!!!! I was always gonna get one when I was glassblowing, but I never did. I wouldn't have been able to use it for anything big. But, yeah, after they are out of spec for humans they can be used for hobby stuff. Still, a lot of people don't like to sell them in case someone wrongly uses them for medical.

I do a lot of smoking ribs, brisket and pulled pork for friends and family, and was dropping off two slabs of ribs when I spotted the concentrators. Rather than take payment for the ribs, I told him I would take a concentrator instead. I have heard of folks using two concentrators for glass work. Those torches need a lot of oxygen and it wouldn't take long for the savings on refills to pay for the concentrators
