As you remember I was having problems with the streaking on the rocks with grit...I found out if I ran it a week longer between grit changing,it works so much better... So I'm doing two weeks on each cycle now....

I'll give you a heads up about those thin Montana agates. If you do not have a whole bunch of small filler or ceramics you will end up with the both flat sides coming out frosted. I'll attach a picture that shows the mix I used. The good news is that no matter how they come out you will learn something and you can always re-run them till you think they are right. I still re-run stuff all the time. ceramic to Montana ratio Here's a little something to look forward too. Not sure where Snuffy gets all the thin pieces but I want more now. Chuck

Hey Fossilman, just thinking about those small thin Montanas.A barnwood picture frame,or other wood you make frames out of,glue the pieces on a pane of glass,or maybe a mirror square.Wonder how that would look!Trying to figure out what to do with the ones I've polished.

It took the fellow that I bought these from many years to accumulate these Montana slab trimmings. His specialty was wind chimes. I got all I could because I knew I wouldn't be able to find anymore like this unless I made them myself. No way.

My Grandma passed away early in life (cancer)...Well I ended up living in North Dakota after I got out of the Army and lived close to my Grandpa's place... So around the early 90's,my Grandpa was remarrying and moving to Florida,so he was packing and getting rid of stuff... One day,he came over to my house and started telling me the story of the agate frame and he knew I liked it a lot.... Well the frame had broke many years ago,but Grandma put the agates all in a little box and stored them away.. Grandpa reached into his pocket and pulled out the box with the agates in them and handed me the box and said,Grandma wanted you to have these... Brought a smile to my face and I still cherish them in my collection..Probably one of the reasons I like Montana agates a lot too........

What a great story fossilman, and a wonderful way to remember your grandmother. Still have my Montanas from Tony in the first stage, and I hope they turn out as nice as yours.

Loving all the Montanas! I may have to take an extended trip from the family cabin in Island Park soon to get some.
