I got a PM from Matt(textiger) late last nite saying he was in the bay area and had some free time and wanted to know if I wanted to go rockhounding today. Well, I had to work, but I gave him directions to Anderson Dam in Morgan Hill and he went and collected a few decent rocks. Then when I got off work, he was able to stop by my house for a couple of hours and we had a good time talking about all you rock nuts behind your backs! ;D Just kidding, but I gave him a tour of "The New Hippie Workshop" and my stash of rocks. Matt's a great guy and I was able to scratch him off my list. ;D I saved him the agony of carrying a bunch of rocks on the plane and only let him take home a couple of cabs-I'll mail a flat rate box full of rocks to him! Nice meeting you in person Matt.

Hey that's cool! Glad you got to scratch him off your list Ed. Matt is the first person I met from the board and you're right... he's a great guy. I'm trying to talk him into going to the ranch next year. Maybe now you can work on him too. hehe... Dan

Someday I'd like to scratch you off my list Joe! I guess I took too many days off when I was moving, so my boss prefers to have me there, sick or not! I worked on him a little bit Dan, but we need to keep the pressure on!

Yeah, me too, Joe -
I get up to Colorado a few times a year. I did some hounding in the Raymer area in May and was kinda disappointed, plan to get back to Stoneham one of these days to look for the blue Barite!

Hey Ed,
Thanks for everything -- the directions, the rock talk, the cabs and the tour around your workshop. I had a great time. Just drooling over the cabs made the trip worthwhile, but gabbing about rocks and cabbing took it over the top. Next time, I'm going to ask you to take a rock from rough to cab so I can watch a master at work.
Folks, you should see his rock collection. Like all of us, he has boxes and bins and piles of rock in several places. But the quality of rough is outstanding. And virtually every one, it seems, has already been cut to allow an opportunity to see what's inside. Gorgeous stuff. And seeing that many beautiful cabs in one place is amazing.
Ed was generous enough to give me five beautiful cabs and has promised a flat rate box out of the kindness of his heart. The cabs inspired plenty of oohing around the dinner table that night. I will post pix of my bounty as soon as I get a chance.
Thanks again, Ed, for the great day.

Hey Matt, glad you made it home safely. I wish we had more time, but we'll work on that next time. I enjoyed our visit, it's always good to meet a member in person, kinda puts a personal feeling to typing!!!! After seeing the cabs, maybe your wife will be a little more interested in your passion for rocks!!! I'll get the box in the mail tomorrow.
