Cut this today, been wondering what it is or where from. I assume from Oregon someplace.

We have hunted an area near the Sheep Creek deposit S.E. of Prineville, OR and found very similar material, but not as much plume. That used to be a popular place to collect until someone went in and did some blasting. The road is now closed, about a 3/4 mile walk to get there now. Nice piece.

What I have was probably collected in the 70's or so. Not really sure. It was part of a pile of rock the wife bought in an estate sale. I have several large pieces of Maury Mountain moss from the same general area so you could be right.

A slice of awesomeness! Not knowing the ID of a rock is the only downfall of estate sales.
Thanks for sharing that with us.
