Cut this one yesterday and got it polished today. It is about 5 inches in diameter. I don't have a clue where it came from. Wife bought it home and wanted me to cut it for a friend and it looked good enough to polish so I did! lol

I have a large,30", flap lap. Start with that to get saw marks out. then use a bull wheel with 100 grit paper, then 220, and lastly 400 grit. then it is off to my 24 in polisher.

No, flat lap is rotating plate. actually my lap is an old industrial lapping machine Add water and 180 grit and let her run.

Lovely thunder egg, by the way.

I use graded 180 grit. works good. Find a 90 degree gearmotor, you want the speed to be pretty slow or you will throw the grit off.
