I picked up a hodge-podge of mixed stones and slabs yesterday and there were several that I have no idea what they are (typical lol) I was hoping to get a little ID help Unknown 1 First two pictures are of the same slab, dry and wet. Wet it is black, with what look like darker black crystals in it. Unknown 2 No idea on this one either..maybe another type of Amygdalodial Basalt?? Unknown 3 I think is a jasper of some type. It is a bad photo =\ The red and yellow colors look almost like they are floating above the other colors. Sort of a 3Dish effect. Nephrite / Jade ? Another not so great photo. The white is very white and has a stronger contrast to the green. Unakite This one is not as hard as an agate/jasper but looks like it will take a glossy polish. Unknown 6 - Chrysoprase/Mtorolite? Bad photo (cell phone..) The green in a brighter color than the photo. It is crystalline and translucent. A flashlight on one end makes the whole stone glow. Medicine Bow Plume I got several pieces of this. It is translucent with a lot of denrites. Another piece has only one very large dendrite "fan" in it. Copper minerals throw me..I never know what I have. So many look similar to me. I have several pieces of this. It is solid material and doesn't chip or flake easily. The colors are amazing. Vivid blue, green & yellow and dark black. Unknown 8 Front (damp) Back (dry) Any help is very much appreciated! Roger

Number 5 looks to be unakite. Number 7 Medicine Bow Plume. Number 6 either chrysoprase or Mtoroite. Number three is one of the Owyhee varieties....Mel

Unknown 4 resembles a lot of the Nephrite/Diopside mixes found in Washington State.

Roger: All the Chrys I've had has a iron red exterior and is of a lighter green shade than is Mtoroite ( if I've spelled it right). The Mtoroite I've had in hand appears a darker shade of green than chrys to me, as chromite is the coloring agent.....Mel
