Ok I went to a supply house here and found one that turns 4rpm mine now turns 3.5rpm will that make enough difference in the feed that I would need to speed the blade up?

Slow feed is always better. Make sure you keep blade well dressed with faster feed. Barranca made the Star Diamond saws for a while after MK bought Star Diamond. They called them SS18, etc. You might contact BD and see if they use the same feed motor on the current saws as your saw if the speedy one doesn't work.

Rotation is critical too when sourcing feed motors.

Microwave or rotissere motors don't work, they will randomly turn clockwise or counter clockwise. kap if the thread pitch of your feed is 20 TPI like a lot of saws 4 RPM would be 5 minutes per inch which is really fast for a 20 inch saw no matter how fast you spin the blade. Can you mount the motor to the side of the feed screw and use pulleys and a belt to set your feed rate?

Barranca uses rotisserie motors on their smaller saws. Seem to work OK for them.

The one that was on it was factory best I can tell and it was 3.5 rpm. I will do some more checking around. Thanks everyone for the help!

Barranca uses rotisserie motors on their smaller saws. Seem to work OK for them. The one somebody got cheap and put on one of the saws at the club shop was totally random rotation but I believe there is probably some kind of diode or capacitor or something that would cause it to turn the same direction every time.
