hey everyone!!
Last week ( got some vacation time from work) I went on an 8 day road trip .....was able to visit some incredible historical sites and take some pictures....I just wanted to share some of em with y'all....met some really nice folks along the way and was able to visit a small rockshop in Wyoming where I scored some olive and black jade...hope you enjoy...
joe
this one was taken just outside of st George Utah
Chimney Rock Nebraska.....a famous landmark along the Oregon Trail
Scottsbluff National Monument in Nebraska where the pioneers passed thru on their way to Oregon and Californy
more of Scottsbluff
Trail Ruts made by the pioneers
part of the trail used by the pioneers..some parts were deep!!! made me realize how tough they were...those that blazed the trail...Guernsey Wyoming
another angle
Register cliff in Wyoming...where some of the pioneers etched their names, state of origin and the date to mark their passage thru this spot...I saw a lot of signatures from the 1850's in this place...I took pics of the signatures but they were faint and didn't show very well
Ft Laramie Wyoming... the barracks for the enlisted men....they say this is the original building used....
inside the barracks....felt like the soldiers were still there...weird
my souvenirs from the trip...bought this from a small rock shop in Torrington wy...some olive and black Wyoming jade...
Thanks for looking y'all....
Red, White, and Blue....These colors don't run!

Wow, that was great. How BIG it all is out there, and how beautiful. I had heard that parts of the Oregon Trail remained but had never seen pictures of it. Is there a story about the ox drawn Conestoga wagon in the picture of Scotts Bluff? Is it real, or is it a permanent display of some sort? Thanks for the show, and the rocks you brought home are gorgeous! Don't forget to show us what you do with them!
