I'm still roughing it..wrapping these small rough aventurines. I'm very hesitant about buying some good cabs or a few faceted gemstones because I'm trying not to spend. My husband is building us a new house and we need every penny, so I feel guilty even buying wire! I've already invested in lots of $$ for rough stones to tumble so I just would rather wait for those to be polished.
IN the meantime, wrapping these rough stones are really testing my skills. I am doing everything backwards - wrapping weird shaped stones, then wondering why they don't stay in well, or why it takes hours and hours just to shape the wire correctly around them. I should be starting out with decent cabs! But noooooo.
Here I managed to find some rough aventurine with a pretty even triangle shape. I have absolutely no idea why I didn't spiff up my bails or evened out the side bindings. Good lord.
A simple wrap w/ rough green aventurine:
Rough red aventurine below, using this terrible 'champagne gold' Parawire that is way too hard to manipulate. It's not even gold plated - I don't know what it is. I used it for the above wrap too. I'm done with the 'gold' parawire forever. Time to move on. Anyway, the next wrap, which I disassembled because I never liked the design because of the wire, has an errant short wire sticking out, that I have also for some reason chosen to ignore when taking the pic:
Below is a smaller triangle of rough green aventurine. I tried my hand at adding some flair to the bottom prongs:
These designs are not fully my idea. I was perusing this board one day and stumbled on a picture done by someone else and I loved it. There were instructions included so I followed it to the best I could.
Thanks for looking, these wraps get me up to, maybe 13 or 14 wraps. I'm getting there. I don't do one a day but I do think of lots of designs, I have lots of ideas. More to come very soon, I'm finishing up some really nice ones.
