Ok so I've ordered a new blade for my Raytech L-6S. The blade will not slide through the slot with the shaft sticking out without bending the blade. Looking like I have to drop the shaft housing to get the blade on without bending blade. Looks like there are 4 screws in deck securing the housing. Is this true...Drop the housing to add/remove the blade?

Yep, got to detach the arbor bearing housing from the deck to change blades. The old HP trim saw at the club shop is the same setup, PITA if you ask me.

I'm puzzled? I've always been able to change mine without loosening anything (but the arbor nut) by angling it and staring it through the slot form the underneath side and then when it's far enough up to slide onto the arbor hole it lines right up. Forgive me for asking but you are not trying to insert the new blade through the top of the slot are you? Larry C.

Agree with Larry. Lift the tray all the way up, slide the blade in at an angle, then onto the shaft. Then bushing (if needed) washer, nut etc.

Hmmm, so maybe it's not like the Highland Park.

No I'm trying to insert from the bottom. I'm going in at an angle but it will not go on to the arbor shaft with having to bend the blade. I had to loosen the arbor housing to have enough slack to get the blade to slide over the shaft.
Do you have this same Raytech L-6s saw and not have to do that?
I do have a Raytech L-10S 10" saw and I don't have to drop the housing to add/remove the blade.....but this 6" I seem to have to.

Also have the 4" and 10" Raytechs and don't have to loosen the bearing housing to change blades in any of them. But I guess since there isn't a powerfeed shown on yours you don't have to worry about getting it misaligned so it shouldn't hurt anything to loosen the arbor bearing bracket to mount the blade if you need to. Are you making sure the blade guard is up and out of the way? You have to use a pretty shallow angle to get the blade up thru the slot. Sometimes it hits the blade guard and then it won't go in.

Yeah I have the 10" and don't have to loosen the arbor but have to on my 6". And no, my 6" does not have a power feed. Here are too pics showing trying to remove the blade I just installed. From the top showing the angle of the blade through the slot. Then from the bottom showing how much more arbor shaft that must be cleared before the blade will come off.
