Has anyone had good results with cleaning or rebuilding the Lortone 3A motor? I disassembled one and found it fairly clean. I tried using electrical cleaner and this did not improve operation.

Never tried. I keep mine oiled and they keep running. If you need a new one Rock Shed is a little cheaper. $26.50

Another BTDT. Messed with it, disassembling/cleaning/oiling, kept it going a few months. Just get a new one.

I bought a new Lortone 33B and the motor has already developed a loud noise after 3 weeks use. How long did yours last?

I seldom buy new lapidary equipment. I have two of the Lortone 3A tumblers and both were bought used. Maybe someone else can reply with life expectancy estimates. I think this will be challenging due to the number of variables such as weight of the loaded barrel, room operating temperature, air flow, cleanliness of the operating conditions, etc.

A brand new Lortone tumbler with a noisy motor should be a warranty issue. Contact Lortone right away and they can assist you.

Thanks! I actually stopped in there today and they swapped out the motor for me on the spot. They were very nice about it.
