I just could not pass up the malachite that Jeff is selling. I have been drooling over this stuff since the first time saw it. Passed it up when I was in Q because I was over weight by a bunch. Jeff hooked me up with two awesome pieces and gave me what I thought was an excellent deal. Now that I have received it I think he gave me the best deal of my life for some of the best stone on the planet. I can not believe I forgot it was coming (lotta crap goin on) and when my son handed the box to me I didn't have a clue what it was. Looked at the return address and saw Jeff there and it hit me. I hooped it up a bit then about cut my hand off cutting the box open. My son (and I) were flabbergasted. Jeff, you da man. There is no smiley doing a cart wheel but there should be. Thank you X many many. Jim

It was impossible to wait for a thin blade so a few days ago I cut two sides off of the large piece. I should get three cabs with druzzy from these two pieces. Started working one piece. I was not sure what grit to start with so I chose 800 then went down to 400 and finally stopped at 200 which is a little bit too fast so much caution is needed. I will be working these three pieces on the machine and carving/polishing by hand. There are some lines between the two flats with druzzy that are going to take some precise polishing that may be more than my shaky hands can handle. I may have to mount the rotary and use a drip. THAT SMALL PIECE WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY SITTING THERE SO I HAD TO CUT IT YESTERDAY.All the pieces. It came apart in a couple of places but I am pretty sure that I will get three cabs with at least two circles in them. The left overs. I am going to put them in the sonic cleaner to see how good the druzzy on the inside of that ball will clean up. Showing outside and inside of the pieces. The small pieces that will be beads. I was totally blown away when the cuttings coming off of this stuff was brown mud. Not sure how that works. Jim

Jim, thank you for the great compliments! I'm glad you are so happy with the rough. Looks like you are going to make some gorgeous stuff out of it, too!

Fossilman, this stuff is a dream to work with as far as grinding and shaping goes. Have not gotten to the polish yet.
The one thing that you learn right away is that you are not in charge, the stone is. If you make too many plans there is a good chance the stone is going to change your mind unless you are in the middle of a large piece where everything is cemented together real good. I have been cutting off the edges and it has been teaching me right along.
Did I mention that I love this stuff. May have to sell off all my jade. lol Jim
