Even though I've been wrapping a lot of rough stones, I do have a few faceted glass pieces (one I already wrapped and posted a while ago). I have been waiting to do this one because while it is really pretty, it is a strange size. At first I thought this was rose quartz but it is way too clear. I suspect it is faceted glass. It is in the shape of a ring setting, not a pendant. But the size of it would be way too big for a ring (unless you prefer to wear what looks like a 15 carat ring!).
So since I have been desperate to wrap some nicer looking things than rough rock, I decided to transform this into a wrapped pendant. This was my first idea for a design. I used 10 !!!! wires because it was so large and strange-shaped that it needed a lot of support.
While I really liked it, I realized the top wires were way higher than the bail and didn't look right. So I completely undid that whole deal and straightened the wires as best I could. I remembered one wrap I saw while looking here on the forum that I fell in love with. It was made by Don, and the reason I loved it was because it reminded me of this very piece and I really wanted to try out his design on this piece. So credit really goes to Don for this design.
Also, I would prefer the wires to be closer together and straighter, but because these wires were already bent into a different design, they do not look as good. This is simply a "Saved Wrap Design."
**I apologize for not taking a pic of the piece before I wrapped it, to show the shape of it. But the pic of the side does show the shape of it. I filed down the point in the back and wrapped the wires purposefully right over the point so that there is not any rough edges at all and would feel smooth against skin. All the wires tucked in really nicely and filled out the back of the piece to make it seem more flat, and to minimize the pointy back that looks like >
The back:
Next is a moon cab that I never thought to wrap until now, as I was running out of the rough rocks to wrap. This is a very simple design and it looks like the moon has a beard! I have other moon cabs and I also have many other nicer ideas for wrapping those. I need to wait for my wire order to come.
The back:
It does have a drilled hole for a chain but I wanted to wrap it anyway, for practice. Hope you liked them..
