I have cabbed quite a bit of malachite in the past but never wrapped any because I always thought it wouldn't look right in anything but gold so now that I had a little gold to play with I cabbed and wrapped this one last night. This piece did not get the shine that @wampidy got on his yesterday but the material varies and some shines better then others. In person I was happy with it. This my be my favorite photo of any of my groove wraps so far I cabbed up a little scrap piece of fordite while I was at it. This is only about 9/16" diameter. Thanks for looking Chuck

The shine looks pretty damn good to me and the gold looks really good with that also.
I haven't thought about wire or whatever so your thoughts on silver and gold kind of woke me up. Not sure what I will with the cabs when they are finished. One thing that comes to mind is drilling a large hole and loop leather or cord through the hole. I guess you would call it a bead. Another possibility just popped into my head, green cord groove wrap like I was fiddling around with a while back on some other cabs.
BTW the little cab is cute. Jim

Thanks Jim. I have done a bunch of google searches for malachite wire wraps and just never fell in love with any wrapped in silver. Your cord idea sounds like a winner.

Beautiful and precise work! I have never been able to get a good polish on malachite, although I've only tried a couple. I was told that the malachite comes in different hardnesses and some just won't polish. Yours looks like one of my better polishes.

OK- this is weird The board was having issues all morning- then I got an email with your quote Chuck, but it is not here. Too weird. I refresh, it's there and then when I go to go to it, it's not there!!! No, I am not high on anything.
Anyway- the part I saw in the email was do I like silver or gold... I love gold with malachite, but I have used silver, which is ok, but gold is better.

Tela, I was having issues with the forum this morning too. I thought it might have been just me, good to know it wasn't. Those wraps are great. That itty bitty fordite is cute. The gold does look really good with the malachite. I have not wrapped any malachite before but may have a cab of it somewhere in my stash. May have to dig it out and give it the gold treatment.

malachite+ gold = pretty darn close to perfection.
