In between house painting,I decided to take a break and cut a few rocks.. This is a nice little piece, don't recall the name, but it looks and feels like opal (very soft material)... Montana Golden Moss agate...............My Nephew sends me a goodie box once a year and it's full of Yellowstone rock.... Teepee Canyon Agate............Love this stuff, cut's great! Thanks Don.....I need to buy some of this.. Clueless on this one-I'm thinking green quartz, but could be wrong...Cuts great!! Not even going to guess on this one! All I know is,that it cuts great, has a rainbow affect on the interior, depending on the direction you cut it....All healed fractures inside(looks like a bomb went off in it! Cool looking though and very heavy for it's size...... Cut from the other direction....

Good stuff! It's always nice to take a break and cut rocks haha.
The "green quartz" second to last rock looks like green aventurine to me.

Those are some good-lookin' materials you slabbed, Fossilman! I really like the dendrites in your dendritic opalite (?) and the colors of the moss in your Maury Mtn. agate. Curious about what the rainbow material is called? Looks like fluorite, but I'm guessing it's probably not. Maybe a funky quartz?

Beautiful material ya got there. I'm with Tommy, that green does look like green aventurine. Could the rainbow one be some sort of obsidian? The sheen on it reminds me of that obsidian they call velvet sheen or something to that effect.

Diane,I'm thinking some type of quartz...........It's heavy and clear, just many healed fractures in the interior-but cuts very smooth!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first one looks like Snyder's Ranch dendritic opal/agate. It is found as both opal and agate. Snyder's Ranch is (was) in Valley Springs, CA where I currently reside. The Snyder parents passed away in the past couple years and the ranch is up for sale thus no more collecting. Bob
