I think I have some serpintinite... It looks black when not held up to the light... breaks like quartzite though... i'm not really sure what it is but I like it. I think I will have to slab up more thin pieces and glue it to some clear quartz (if I find some) and make pendants. Let me know what you think it is (and its probably not jade if you were thinking that) Also the green looks a lot better with the eye.. camera doesn't do justice

could be a serpentine rock mixed in quartz?
is the thin slabbing to keep it form being too dark? often quartz-cap doublets look artificial, but they do make the rock pop.

I have green quartz that looks black(darker anyhow)/till you slab it,than it brightens up with green and blues.... Nice slab you got there!!!

That's a beauty and understand why it's your fave, glennz01. Looks sweet backlit. Is it a local find? I don't have any idea of what it is called, but wondered if it may be serpentine with magnetite or chromite inclusions?

Yep I found it locally, the slab is thin so that enough light can come through to show the color when held up to the light.. otherwise its just black.
I haven't found anything like it to date so its hard to say
