Outstanding sphere Justin! I need to look into picking up some of that material. What blades do you use on your super grinder? I have 75#!!

Have you tried tumbling it? I picked up a couple milk crates full some time ago. Like to give tumbling some a try. It's pretty far down on my rocks to tumble list though.

sissy A monkey can tumble agates & jasper to perfection. Expand your boundaries! I can't even get to monkey status! The purple pebble eater (thx Garage Rocker for that name) was built too aggressive. Grit gone in 36 hours. Lost volume of not replace a every 36 hours bruised the stones. I changed motors to slow it down. I'm close to having it run again.

IF I had such a grand tumbler as you built, I would have one level turning fast and one level slow. Seems a pulley change out would be all that is needed for such.
Someday I hope to find the room I want for all my lapidary gear and equipment I would like to add. *sigh*

Went from 1725rpm motor to 1045rpm. No pulley change required. Plus 1/9hp saves electricity, I hope . I'm holding out on engineering speed on second shelf while I learn the details of shelf one. Thanks for the compliment.

Finally got around to working on the 3.5" lightning stone sphere. Here it is ready to rock n' roll: Grinding away: After an hour it's a lot smoother: After one more hour to get out the last flat spot, it's ready to polish: I'm working on grinding out another sphere before re-arranging the machine for polishing. Thanks for looking!

Just testing out posting pictures from the RockShow. Here's a picture of the final polished lightning stone sphere. I also made a sphere from Seraphanite.
