I like your bird house, riverrock, and pretty sure the birds will feel like they are living in a mansion!

sweet! Stone houses are common here, but this is the first stone bird house I have seen. I want to make one now!

Pretty cool idea and the bird house came out great! About 60+ years ago my dad made wishing wells similar to your bird house. He built wishing wells about 12" tall and used cement to adhere the beach rocks we found to the wood. The wishing wells all had small flower pots(that could be removed) in them and were used for planters! connrock

Wonderful. I'm going to copy you if it isn't too late. I think my Wrens already got started. I might collect my stones and make it over the winter to post next February, as I remember my old birdhouse was being checked out by the Chickadees and Carolina Wrens by mid-Feb in my location in southeast Louisiana.

I found the old picture of my chickadee house when I was checking dates and it was indeed being checked out in February. As you can see, it was one of my first experiments in 2003, so I was afraid to use good stones. I just bits of tile and that... I realized a few months ago that I work too slowly to keep holding back "the good stuff" until I feel super expert, so I'm gonna go ahead and use my polished stones the next time I make one of these... This house was destroyed in Tropical Storm Bill of 2003, which also did substantial damage to our real house, so I fell far behind in my creative efforts for several years... You have inspired me to get off my duff and make a new birdhouse. They love the stone birdbath so much I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner.
