My brother and I used to throw clay balls at each other, jamesp. Clay ball fight. Painful. One time he threw a book at me and I leaned to the side and he missed me and broke a window. Restrictions for both of us for eons.

Restrictions for both of us for eons. Clay, hard or wet, excellent for warfare. Broken windows...not good for any one.

In the fall of 1968 at West Georgia College they had "RAT WEEK". It is a deal where upper classmen tell freshmen what to do, in other words "harassment". Only thing I liked about was being told to liplock or kiss the girls. It was always a surprize to the girls. On the 4th day of Rat Week we had a tug of war between the gym and the lake. They took a backhoe and dug out a good size pit and mixed it with water. Well West Georgia is full of the "red dirt" and now the pit was red mud. The tug of war started but lasted only about a minute. Then it was a free fall. Folks throwing mud at each other. Folks standing around the pit who were laughing being taken and was dipped in the mud. At that time there were only a handfull of hippies on campus and they were seen so a lot of the crowd chased them down, the girls and guys and placed in the pit and dipped in the red mud. Most of the dorms were messed up from the tug of war and the Student Center rugs were ruined. Rat Week ended that day. West Georgia College never had that again. After the crowd dispersed, most went to the local car wash about a half mile away and got cleaned up. The dorms were cleaned up by the upper classmen as punishment who did not go to the tug of war. The photo reminds me of it. It was a muddy mess and fun too !

True fun garock. Tug of war over a mud pit is a necessity. They should have had a wash area, like a pond or a lake to go to. Red mud is unforgiving on building interiors. No doubt. So how many girls did you lip lock ?

james...bout 2600 lbs....500 hp...i actually hate this type of car ...its open wheeled...really not a southern thing...ya kinda gotta race safely...cant race to close to each other...wheel to wheel with another car can easily mean your on your roof i prefer more of a hard charging get out of my way attitude when racing...at least if i can catch'em . as i have gotten older...i have traded all red clay toys in...its now my wife..myself...and the pups. but back to that georgia red clay. since i live at clarks hill lake a lot during warm months. i park my RV on it...my golf cart runs thru it...people climb on my watercraft with it caked on there shoes......it fills the fender wells of my truck...my pups get covered in it while playing in the lake...all and all...i dont mind it so much. wait...what in the hell am i typing...i hate that chit ...kev.

our local red clay dirt track closed...they were building a motocross track there also...was gearing up for that...then it all fell apart...not sure what happened. i hate our red clay when i have to remove it from something ...but at times love it...specially when i can race on it....raced all over georgia and south carolina...but i got old...stuff is now sold...or wrecked . i have a good friend that has made 100k...this year...with his son driving...on the way to 150k...in dang go karts...can you believe that.but...i had fun....and won a few...kev. hangin it out. Those are the vintage class at the tracks around me. I live around some high speed dirt tracks here in the Midwest. Over a hundred miles an hour on dirt. I have traveled all over the Midwest to different tracks watching the professional late model drivers and sprint car drivers. The late models are like Nascar's nowdays. The Sprint cars are insane. Steve Kinser is my hero. IMO, the number one race car driver of all time. Yes, over Richard Petty, AJ. Foyt, John Force and Dale Earnhardt. Kinser has traveled for over 30 years, racing over a hundred nights a year all across North America, Canada and Australia. It is pretty insane if you look into his career. Championship after championship. These guys are going 140 MPH on dirt on tight tracks. You have to see it to believe it. Video doesn't do it justice. this guy. 20 championships. Check out his stats. www.stevekinser.com/

A must watch video. Check out the speeds here. This track is close to me. Kenny Schrader. Nascar hall of famer owns the track. One of the fastest and raciest dirt tracks in the country. Just imagine 24 sprint cars at these speeds racing side by side. This is a great video.
Ive been a huge race fan all my life. Dirt track, Nascar, NHRA. Indy Cars even. I even know all the nicknames of the pro touring sprint car drivers and pro touring late model drivers.lol
jamesp, sorry about the hijack...
