My first attempt at creating usable polishing pads became merely a lesson. So now I am on my second attempt at creating polishing pads for my sphere machine. Had some bench time at work tonight. Started by whittling away on a coupler, making the polishing surface roughly 45 degrees. This little stone and the rat file did the trick but if anybody has an idea (I have already thought of buying a lathe! But that won't happen) of an easier way to rough these to a decent angle let me know. Cleaned it with acetone. Grabbed a 200 grit pad and did a little surgery on it. Used the hack saw for cutting it down. Removed a section to allow it to shrink down to the needed diameter. Test fit. Trying some Nano Glue I had in the desk. 1st problem: I should have read the directions before using. Hard surface should have been dampened with water before using. Here is the Nano Glue. If this fails it has been recommended to me to use Gorilla Glue. I am assuming not the Gorilla Wood Glue. After sitting 10 minutes it slid around like it was on oil. Need to go read the drying time. Have added some weight to keep it in place. So if anyone has any comments or concerns about this method feel free to speak up. You can't hurt my feelings. My wife says I don't have any.

MAJOR SCORE! Was at the Cuyuna Rock Club show today in Brainerd, MN. Picked up a few motors for my next sphere machine! (Sorry about the dark pic. Cell phone on my tailgate.)

Skip the glue, use sticky velcro it works great. I used PVC fittings which were much easier to shave off the angle. This also allows you to switch pads on the same cups really easy.

Gorilla glue(wood) is a joke.I'll never use it again!!! It swells up and pushed your projects apart...Elmer's is the "Boss" and will always have it on hand! Looks like great advice coming towards your project,I bet you get it working in no time-Thumbs up
