A couple of years ago, Rick bought me a used All Diamond Graves CabMate that came with an assortment of accessories. We had to replace the arbor in the unit and the drip tank. This little machine has superb quality, a work horse and very versatile.
I have had a pleasant experience dealing with Graves Company, and any time I have questions, Peter at Graves has been very kind and gives excellent advice. I also appreciate the ladies that do administrative office work for Graves.
I love the CabMate so much that Rick purchased a new Assembled Graves CabMate for me, along with Graves Topcutters and lap cases.
At first I was going to purchase a flat lap to do intarsia and the backs of cabs but had second thoughts and asked Rick if I could purchase the CabMate and use the Topcutters instead. He gave his blessing, and yes, I admit, I am spoiled.
I also have an 8" Covington grinder/polisher that I have enjoyed using, too, but I get frustrated when the hood that covers the expanding drum falls over onto the arbor. We may have to make an adjustment to the machine to keep the hood from falling over.
I will use the 'older' CabMate for trimming materials and polishing with diamond paste and using polishing media and continue to use the Covington. With the new CabMate, I also wanted to use it also as a 3rd wheel, and place a 280 grit flex wheel on it before using the expanding drum on the Covington.
For a couple of days, I was unable to reach anyone at Graves to order the machine. I checked their website to see if maybe they were at a show. Yesterday, I finally reached someone at Graves and spoke to Peter about the TopCutters and his advice on which mesh to purchase for doing the backs/bottom of cabs and intarsia.
There was a very good reason why I was unable to reach anyone at Graves, but do not want to state the reason. All is okay, thank goodness, and I appreciate their customer service and expertise.
Cannot wait to receive the new unit!!
ETA: I forgot to mention that Graves Company has updated their website and that you may order using Paypal now.
