"I want to cut this fordite rough. Have someone interesting? I will update the pictures". Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/70543/fordite-rough#ixzz3YEwTDhr2From the way this is written, I suspect the member is from overseas and is looking to sell slabs of the material. Which leads me to wonder if it's genuine Fordite, or a knockoff. Anyone with access to a paint booth & curing oven can replicate Fordite.

A lot of Fordite coming out of Mexico now too!!! I know exactly where mine comes from. I work for a company that makes the molds for the bumpers. Our end customer shoots the plastic and paints them. This is the paint line where front and rear fascias (bumpers) are painted for Ford, Chrysler and GM and others. The bumpers are plastic so they still use conventional paint not electrostatic like what is used for sheet metal now. "Even before we became leaders in chrome plating, We were leading the industry in advanced painting technologies. We offer a myriad of finish options, including high and low gloss, high and low bake, resist and top coat, and blackout. A variety of painting systems – 1k and 2k, solvent and water-borne, robotic and hand-spray capabilities – are available to fulfill virtually any plastic painting requirement." Here's a nice little piece (one pound) Chuck
