I wrapped most of these on my lunch hour today at work but ran out of time and did the Fordite after work. Needles blue agate (thanks to Don for the ID) My wife claimed this as soon as it was cabbed. Before I even knew what it was. It is a really cool rock in person. Rainforest jasper Amazonite (very small cab) Flint Ridge (self collected) Fordite Thanks for looking Chuck

I really like those first two rocks. That's a great pattern on the Fordite too.

Whoa! That first one is toooo cool. Never seen it before. All of the are very nice though. Too many to choose a second- yes, the needles blue took first. Can you tell us more about this stuff? Or, is there a link to Don's ID?

Been all around Lake Havasu. Only Walmart in reach of Quartzsite. Oh back to the subject. There are more abandoned mines in that area than you can imagine. Lots of copper minerals. Occasionally at the mine tailings you find quartz with chrysacoola in it. At least that's what it looks like to me. I cabbed some, some crumbles, some does like Chucks and is awesome. I only found little pieces. Nothing you could slab. Some looks like it's almost a emerald inside the quartz when you cab it. There is a ghost town outside Lake Havasu that has a few buildings and a huge copper processing facility that is mostly just concrete pads and iron machinery. It's a historic site and you can't pick up stuff in the actual town. Lots of Desert glass in town. Found several pieces there. This place is like 20 miles out in the desert on cow paths to get there! They built the town and ran a railroad to it to get workers to live there. Copper played out and everybody left. Can't remember the name of it.
What's cool about Lake Havasu is The Desert Bar!!! Some dude bought an abandoned gold mine complete with buildings etc. Cleaned it up, built a kitchen, 3 level dining areas, bathrooms etc. All made of metsl boiler plate etc gatheted from the mine machinery. Covered it with solar panels and is open on weekends only. Worlds best bar food and nachos I ever ate. Huge crouds, you gotta have 4 wheel drive to get there. It's about 10 miles out in the desert. You can find chrysacoola in the parking lot!

Hey Tela it's was a fantastic trip west for 6 months of rockhounding and learning lapidary, jewelry, and knapping! The best part wasn't the hounding etc. it was the people!!! Tony, Tijuana the spiritual stone handling healer, Mikey, Roy, Diane, Alva the Wagonmaster, Dog Valley Dick the mountain man, Ralph Lawless the California Modoc beach indian knapper, and on and on with the folks that shared their, life, treasures, food, and family with Susan and I everywhere we went. Life is good on the rubber tire tramp through the REAL America!!!! I coming to visit you too Tela plus while in that direction the infamous Biker Randy!!!!
