Have a commission for a cuff out of this nice red plume agate...spent a good couple hours trying to get the stone to shine up with no luck. there seem to be tiny micro pits and some less hard quartz that undercuts and prevents the cab from taking a shine. I've tired wet and dry sanding with diamond, dry sanding with SC, and polishing with Zam, no luck. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Not sure what else I can try on this, other than have the client pick out another rock. I have some red Mexican flame agate that should shine up... ![](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7749/17183623208_88e3f42abb_b.jpg)

Cover it in super glue and try again.

My fall-back is tin ox on felt. It's beautiful material, it should really pop. I have also, on only a couple of occasions, use super glue. One time it worked great, the other time it accentuated the pit. I would try on a scrap first.

Never used super glue but a lot of folks do. Let us know if you try it.

Thanks guys. I've put this one aside for now and moved on to other projects. it's a beautiful stone for sure. I only have a couple slabs, it was sold to me as "owyhee plume"
