Went out in my shop to change out my UV-10 fine grind run and found a huge mess all over my table and my tumbler batch one solid blob because the water was gone. UV-10 tub had cut through after about 32 days running time ( 8 batches). Man that is a pretty dang short tub life. I swear these are being made thinner and thinner all the time. Is this some sort of plot to make us buy tons of expensive tubs, I wonder? Anyway, from now on, I'm using the UV only for prepolish and polish stages. I'll do the fine grind in the lortone 12 pound barrels because they last for years.....Mel

That's no good! Just checked, Rock Shed is out of stock. Rocktumbler.com has them but for about $10 more than the Rock Shed. rocktumbler.com/barrel.shtmlI have 3 on hand and can send you one if need be.

My 10 did the same thing the other day.
No way it should have crapped out like that.

Bob, I bought two last time and I have a dedicated one just for prepolish and polish so I'm good thanks. I really think they are now making thinner bottoms though.....Mel

Polyethylene is probably the plastic used. It comes in a range of low to high density. Range of costs too. Somebody is saving money if I had to guess.
Polyurethane is a horse of a different color, as is rubber. They are heavier and not so self supporting. Probably need to be vulcanized into a metal container for a vibe. So up go the costs.
14 pound hopper for Vibrasonic vibe (ouch): Hopper VT-14 VT-14 439-14HC 16 lbs. 465.00
It appears to be vulcanized polyurethane in an aluminum enclosure. SiC 30 does not phase it. Factory recommends SiC 80 for regular duty.
betcha they are making them out of LDPE across the pond. Hope they are saving money at the cost of a great reputation. Basic stupidity.

Yeah, Bill, I was thinking along the same lines...there are a bunch of coatings used for pickup beds and such that are really durable. Would something like that help?
