I have a chance to buy a 10" Lyman saw with power feed. Does anyone have any experience with Lyman saws ?

Thanks Mike. With the amount of slabbing I need to do, I need to add another 10" to the stable.

Lyman Products owned Raytech Lapidary for many years until last year when they sold part of it off to Rick Scott of Scott Enterprises. Larry C.

Don, I don't know if they were the same or not but I just went out to the shop and measured my old Raytech 10" slab saw and the bed measures 20" x 13-1/2" and the Raytech plastic hood on mine measures 19-1/8" x 13" x 5-1/8". Hope this helps! Larry C.

Thanks for the measurements. I just sent the seller a message to let me know the table measurements on the Lyman.

I think I have the hood brand new in a box somewhere. Tony Hey Tony, the seller just got back to me. Inside measurements of the Lyman table are 13 1/4" X 19 5/8". Sounds like the Lyman & Raytech hoods should be the same. The saw is supposed to be in very good condition. Even still has the lift out sump. Comes without the motor, but that's OK. I have a brand new 1/3 HP motor sitting on the shelf. If the hood you have will fit, how much do you want for it ?

Hey Mike, if I still had access to the equipment, I could vacuum form my own hoods. I did a lot of prototype vacuum forming for Fleetwood motor homes when I worked in their design shop. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered the saw. It should be here by the end of next week. Maybe the weather will settle down by then, and I can start slabbing the smaller pieces of picture jasper.

I should be home tomorrow and I can check the size. I have no idea what it is worth, make me a reasonable offer.

It is a Raytech hood for a 10" saw, 13 x 19 1/2, still in the box.

WOO HOO, the Lyman saw just arrived. For a vintage saw it's in much better condition than I expected. It came with a brand new belt & motor pulley. Has a black blazer blade with very little wear. Just need to bolt my motor down, align the pulleys, add oil & start cutting.
As soon as the sun peeks out from behind the clouds I'll get pics to post.

Not the best pics but oh well. I love the power feed split nut system on these Lyman / Raytech saws. Right up top & easy to reach. Split nut & feed screw are both in excellent condition.
