Maybe it looks better in person but I've collected really nice Nevada Wonder Stone from a couple of locations that looks a lot better.

OOOOO a serial number! For a rock! Definitely worth more if the rock has it's very own number. None of my rocks have numbers. I just give them names like George or BigGreenThingItTookMeAllDayToDigUpAndItBroke. I think I have been depriving my rocks! Shame on me! I hope no one reports me to the Rock Protective Services. Does their rock come with a certificate of authenticity also? It might not be a real rock with out a real certificate of authenticity (printed at Kinkos).

I collected with an older guy one time and saw him at his truck with a felt pen labeling every rock with numbers. Then he logged them in a book with dates and location collected. I thought he was a little nuts at the time. I threw mine in milk crates and 5 gallon buckets and even labeled some buckets. Several years later I sold my house and had to move the rocks. Most of the crates and buckets lost the battle with the sun and I ended up piling everything by type. No idea where some were from by then. Pretty sure the other guy still knew where everything came from.

Pretty sure the other guy still knew where everything came from. I had purchased an estate where the collector had done the same thing. Each rock and specimen was carefully numbered and logged down into journals with details on what the stone was, where it was collected, their thoughts on how it was formed geologically even what it's presumed chemical composition was. Amazing amount of detail and dedication when into that collection.

Good job QR - I was headed in a similar direction thinking that this ebay auction has NOTHING to do with a ridiculous rock auction - what it really is is an advertisement for his Department Of Land Transfer scam BS.
