The rock arrived today. It's going to take some cuts to prepare it for slabbing and I'm not sure what the yield will be. It won't be a total bust. I'll know more after at least a few cuts. It certainly requires a larger saw so I'm going to get some use out of my Covington.

I love lace. I covet it, I hoard it, I get it whenever I can. I however, hate the garbage in some of it. That white stuff in the middle? That is what I call garbage.

The rock weighed almost 10 pounds and I estimated as much as a third would be quartz. I paid $40.65 and I've seen much smaller rocks go for a lot more. I cut off a 2-3 piece just to make it more manageable from an area that didn't show much. I'm cutting the next slab off the big piece. Here's the face of the chunk:

Next slabs in progression: The back of the 2-3 pound piece. I'm going to glue the face to a board and take cuts from the back. The face of the 5+ pound piece (picture truncated): The crystal side: I need to dress the blade after three cuts off the large piece so I am going to split it in the crystal area and then figure out what is next:
