An older friend cleaned up his storage area and he give me some buckets of rocks he has collected long ago here in Idaho.
As I put the buckets in the rock shed, I was reminded that I "already have enough rocks for a lifetime". (She doesn't know how long I plan to live, LOL.) Anyway, I looked through the buckets and while they are not gem quality or precious, they are are too nice for me to just dump out. Then I thought, "man this is kind of stuff I wish I had when I was first starting to learn". {I had to tumble some boring, bad stuff when I started.} I know some of you people live where it is hard to rockhound your own material so I thought, "why not give this away to those less fortunate? "
So here is the deal. If you will pay for the shipping, I am very happy to send you a box of free material. I have enough for many small and medium UPS flat rate boxes. I would like to give as many people as possible a chance at these and also do shipping all at one time, so I will collect names for a couple weeks before I arrange for shipment payment, etc. Now if you already have a lot of rocks, please wait and give others a chance first. And if you don't have a rock saw nor want to break anything up, please let me know so I only send you smaller manageable stuff (some pieces I have need to be cut or broken).
The mix is mostly colored jasper with some agate, banded chalcedony, petrified wood (low silica), and other stuff. This isn't fantastic, expensive stuff so please don't expect that, but it is good material to practice tumbling with, and I am sure there are some pieces in every box that will make really nice finished product.
If you would like a box, please just reply on this thread.

I'll take a box. Only been tumbling for two months and still learning. Already tumbled some junk, so as long as it's better than that, I'd be grateful.
If I'm selected just let me know how to pay for shipping. Thanks.

I would love a box of "real rock". I'm in Canada so shipping will be ugly but doable.

Hello I would like a medium box. I have a 16 inch saw and a trim saw. I have been tumbling for several years but in my part of NC we have only sand and pine trees. LOL I can send you a Paypal if selected. Thanks and glad you are doing this, there are a lot of big hearted folks on RTH.

I'd love to get some smaller stuff! I just started tumbling, I have a 12lb tumbler to shape the rocks and one with two 3lbs barrels to finish them, so nothing big please.

Okay, anybody else want free rocks? Even if you are in a "rock rich area" but would like more to play with. I have found some more agate in my shed to add and it looks like I will have plenty, even for some large Flat Raters. Just let me know if you would like some.

I would love some rocks, I am brand new to tumbling, and though I do live in an area with rocks I do not have much time (as an elementary school teacher in my first ten years). Any chance you could send me some? I do not have any way to cut them either, and only a 3lb tumbler. Thanks so much!

I would like to put my name in for a medium rate box. I do not live in a rock hunting area. Just started tumbling last year and started with a vibe this year. Definitely still learning the game and would love some different stuff to tumble!!

Hi Panamark,
If you still have any of the agates you recently found in your shed, I'd love to have some to tumble. Being from Montana, I can not claim to be from a rock-free state. I am just not able to get out and hunt like I should have many moons ago. I would happily take ANY size of FRB if you still have any rocks left over after filling your first requests. I'd want you to fill the requests of the "newbies" first and then if you have anything left over I'd be more than grateful of your kindness and generosity. I can do PayPal.

I've been lurking for far too long, but I'd love to get in on this offer! I have a 7 inch saw and haven't gotten to work with much other than Jaspers and some Quartz.

Okay everybody, I will check to see how many boxes of which size flat rate boxes I can get out of this load. And then I will get back with all of you. I might not be able to squeeze out any large FRBoxes, but I will try. I will be in touch. Thanks.
