Hi, I'm getting into rock tumbling and unfortunately already have three buckets of rocks waiting for the tumbler. I used to do it a bit as a kid with my dad's rock tumbler and when I moved back here to South Dakota he let me use it. I'd gotten a cheap harbor freight one while I lived in Ohio, but unfortunately I never was able to find much. Here in the land of gravel roads and hills of glacial till finding stuff is easy. I've got both tumblers going at the moment and probably going to get another soon, but I'm kind of tempted to get a saw first or some other tools. Anyways enough about me for now, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

welcome from MI, where is the land of glacial till? I have only been a member here for a year, and the knowledge and helpfulness of this group is amazing. I can't believe how much I have learned from them in that time. Glad you are with us.

Glacial till is basically the debris left over from glaciers. My family has a farm and any time after we work a field we have to usually go in and remove rocks that have been pulled up. Some hills are horrible you start digging and it never ends you just get gravel and boulders. Unfortunately most of the bigger stuff is granite or some kind of softer white stone. But between being out in the fields and just walking around the gravel we have around I've found some agate, quartz, jasper and other interesting stuff. I also have to haul in about 30 loads of pit run (unprocessed) gravel for a new large shed we are building. I'm kind of excited about poking around in it.
