Just some of my newer slabs that aren't the ash 1st 2 is pyroxenite or peridotite.. this stuff is very hard to find because it looks black on the outside.... the slabs are very thin... maybe less than my saw blade even Very unusual rhyolite for around here

Hey Glenn, are you sure that green isn't nephrite jade? Do you have a picture of the uncut rock? It is nice looking stuff.

In the rough it just looks like a black rock. I have a bit of nephrite and this stuff isn't as hard. Also not in the right area for jade as it only comes from jade mountian in alaska.

I might also be able to find some more rhyolite / wonderstone this weekend as well in high quality (for ak).

Liking the peridotite........... I may have some more, hard to tell from the outside though.. I need to do some test cuts o my tile saw to see if it is the stuff... if anyone can tell which one of the 2 type it is that would be great. The geologest thinks its more pyroxenite but could be peridotite. i'm not sure how common this stuff is... could be very common and I always passed over it

Did you do a specific gravity on the green stuff?
That would be very interesting.

You'll be surprised how consistent the results will be. Metal content generally <1%. Most of the alibi a stuff is 97-99%silica.
