Had the opportunity to hound a couple weekends ago with mateoj around the San Rafael Swell and we came across a location that had big chunks of pink rock that had weathered out of a cliff side. The material can be scratched lightly by a finger nail, but leaves a solid white line when scratched with a pin. There was also white chucks of the material as well so the color is fugitive I'm guessing when left out in the sun. As far as location, it come out of a cliff on the east side of UT-24 a few miles south of I-70 near Green River, UT. Any ideas? Thanks for looking!

Google Utah orange alabaster. I have carved a bunch of it and yours is looking close, just a little light colored. Hardness isn't far off either. Jim

Right on @wampidy! I would've never guessed alabaster, but it does look like the google search results. Thanks for your post!
