On part of my trip through Utah with John herchenx last year, we hunted for Ammonites but only ended up finding septarian nodule pieces and other assorted oddities. This is a picture of the largest piece that I found and I am still pondering the best way to cut, trim, and or polish it. John says that his all disintegrated into mud so I'm being very careful with it. As I said, I found several other pieces of the nodules, many of them are just chunks of the calcite that grows in them. The calcite varies between a root beer color and plain white. I decided to trim one of the smaller pieces which has some of the mud exterior to see if I could get a nice desktop trinket. Upon my first cut I was surprised to find a pattern that I was not expecting behind the calcite that I cut away. And upon further examination I found a very interesting scene in this specimen. I now am calling the piece Devil's Mountain. Do you see him jakesrocks? There he is.... Weird huh? Thanks for looking! ~Roland

LOL. And if you look to his left, you can see several people walking out of the flames of hell.

If it's "cool," does that mean hell has frozen over?
