Saw blade quality is an issue that is central to anyone who uses a trim saw to do their slabbing of small stones. (under 3" diameter) I have found that the quality of blades is as varied as the amount of blade manufacturers. I'll buy a blade and then do slabbing to my hearts content with it for as long as a couple of years. When it wears out, I go to get a replacement blade, and I can't remember the brand of blade that worked so well. Hey, it's been a long time and there never was a brand name on the old one, so be easy on me for not remembering. The issue is, that the next blade that I buy hardly lasts a day. This is not hyperbole. That is exactly what happened to me. When I take it back to the dealer, they inform me that I must have abused it. "Right," I tell myself as I walk out the door, vowing never to visit them again.
I now go home and put the old blade back on and it cuts better than the new, but it is still seriously degraded after so much use. A friend has recommended the QP blades for the 10 inch tile saw, so I have ordered a couple. Taking this as a que, I went to the local hardware store and lo and behold, they sell a 7 inch QP blade. I spend my money and take it home to find that it barely cut one slab before giving up the ghost. Now I am getting really disgusted. Apparently they do not put the same quality into their smaller blades. ^@#%^(#@^!!!!! Can you feel the love?
The one million dollar question is,"Who makes a good 8 inch blade that I can get some decent use out of?" Anyone?
