This is one of my favorite West Texas agates that I found already broken open. It took me awhile to decide to make some cuts to it as I was trying to display it as a suseki. It looks to me like a cave scene with a still pond and wondrous cavern stalagmites. It does still need some polishing on the cut edges and hopefully I can even out the bottom so that it sits with the water level lines parallel to the ground. But this little specimen has it all; botryoidal, water level, plumes, and dendrites! Please share if you have any other self collected agates as an art piece. The backside... Thanks, Roland

That is a real nice piece. Instead of cutting to make level I might glue some feet on it to level. Thanks for sharing.

That's a goodun. Put that beauty under UV light & see what happens. I've posted this many times before, but my Old Man of the Desert is about what you can expect. (Found & almost thrown away by my wife).

Very detailed and colorful piece. In Kentucky, botryoidal chalcedony and agate is in numerous geodes. Yours has the water level and the perfect shade of blue. I definitely envy you. Keep it up!

That Old Man of the Desert is a freaky one jakesrocks!! I have checked a few of the agates from out there under UV and they mostly exhibit that same color. I will have to check this one out when I get access to a SW light. Thanks! ~Roland

Here, I've finally come around. Hope you all like them. The carnelian, I believe, is also agate due to the banding. All these were found in close proximity, except that the citrine geode was found a county west. This is all from Kentucky. The contrast isn't the best.
Creamy Tan botryoidal chalcedony. I took my hammer to him to break open the whole over a year ago. I assume this is a tiny agate. Found him raw like this, a whole side almost level. Earthy colors, plus cavities at the bottom left. Maybe an inch and a half across.

a traditional dais for the suiseki would display it at the angle you want, use wood and carve the bottom of the display to contain the rock and even out the wobbliness, even elevate one end or the other. It would look good with just a very small rim... very neat piece. I like the others shown here too, and so cool about the fluorescence... Don that face agate is an all time score... a true classic!
