I had an idea to create a tabletop fountain using some smokey/gray quartz I found. I'm not sure yet if I want to drill them, I probably will. I do know I don't have the equipment for a drilling holes in thick quartz right now. Just a small Harbor Freight rotary tool.

Has anyone experimented with fountains? Any tips?

I was at a rock show last year where several dealers had setup bowling-ball sized boulder opals, drilled, with small fountain pumps and bowls. I didn't take pictures and I'm not describing them very well at all but maybe you can find something like that online and gets some inspiration? Just a thought.
