Watched World News Tonight last night, and not only is there a fuss about the Confederate flag and its removal, but they are starting the gun control hoopla again. Calling for tighter gun control laws for guns purchased online and at gun shows (background checks, etc...). I probably just added more fuel to the fire by mentioning guns. When I walked to our mailbox the other day, I noticed our neighbor is flying a large Confederate flag from their front porch. The bans will make the Confederate flag ever so popular Jan. Rebel yell !!

Yall be careful on this political thing. Stuff can be said and cause great harm in the heat of political debate. I was on a vintage Diesel truck forum and a unrelated political hoopla got going good and strong and it wound up real bad. A lot of folks quit and moved to other venues and the forum never recovered! One of the things that was unique about the Civil War was that brother fought brother and father and uncle. It was bad, so hey all yall are my brothers and sisters in rock loving here so let's shake hands and move on to brighter and better things! Pretty pics of rocks comes to mind and maybe a pic of some beautiful lascivious woman. Do yall remember Raquel Welch in the western movie standing under a train water tower wetting herself in order to stop the train!!! Whoee that was racy back in my day!

orrum, this is lame compared to 2012. I don't know if you were here when the "real person" aka Chinese ninja locally known as Helen. She was a poly-sci major from Georgetown and a Obama puppet/propaganda queen.. In real life she is a nice person to talk to, which I have many times. We have been doing this longer than I have being here (2007). Nothing wrong with debates. And for people who get offended. One question. If it offends you, why are you reading it? As James pointed out, there are many other sections here.

Perfect exampleOf why we have to unite and fight this together. Divided as we are there is no hope of winning anything. To win a war you have to win a lot of battles one after the other. There is no way anyone is going to one day just win the war. Case in point. I have been pushing the group Move to Amend that is trying to get the constitution amended taking away corporate personhood. I won't name names but one friend said that they contacted the group and asked them about their stand on unions. The reply was very much not to his liking so he will not back "Move to Amend". We really need to win the amendment battle then move on to the unions. They are both killing us but they are two separate battles. One group trying to do both is not going to accomplish anything. They have already taken away a huge percentage of our guns by making small drug convictions a felony. Felons are not allowed to have guns even if they are a non violent felon. The numbers are staggering. I have heard that by 2020 seventy percent of the population will be classed as felons. Not all non felons are gun owners so they will have carved us down to ???? 20, 15 percent. Battle lost. But what do I know, I am just some dumb schmuck standing in the middle of the road getting side swiped on my left, right, front and back by people that either can only see the big picture or are blind to the fact that "divided we fall". Ready----------GO. Run over me or bust my balls. Preferably run over me because I am tired of standing there but can not stop. Jim

Bill, are ya talking this one?
Yeah, pretty racy for 1969. She was supposed to do that scene nude, but it was decided that she wear a t-shirt. (Yeah, I hear you saying "darn"!) Hey, wait a minute, you're almost two weeks younger than me, and I was only 12 in 1969....
I must've been watching something else back then.

I don't know about the Move to Amend group and not sure this is a battle I care to be involved in as I figure that big business is here to stay. Maybe I will worry about that more someday; but, for now, I have enough irons in the fire. One must pick their battles as there are too many to fight them all. If this is a cause that motivates you, go for it!
As to gun control, I am a Life Member of the NRA. You know what that costs? So, I have put a good deal of money where my mouth is and I let them do the front line fighting for me on this issue as they have the money and lawyers/lobbyist and numbers of supports behind them to make a difference.
You keep saying "divided we fall". While there are issues on which I agree with you, there seem to be more on which I would disagree. So I reckon we will usually be "divided". That's how it is in a free country. Folks can stand up for what they believe and, more importantly, stand against what they don't. C'est la Vie in 'Merica

I'm not sure? Any of these countries ever change there flag due to slavery? By the way I have always liked that flag. Just thought it looked cool. Never gave me an inclination towards the thoughts of violence. Barbary slave trade:The Barbary slave trade refers to the white slave markets that flourished on the Barbary Coast of North Africa, or modern-day Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and western Libya, between the 16th and 19th centuries. These markets prospered while the states were nominally under Ottoman suzerainty, but in reality they were mostly autonomous. The North African slave markets traded in European slaves. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbary_slave_tradeIn a different light. Is there any race that hasnt endured slavery at one time or another. Like you all say, friggen media and the way they persuade the sheep.

Slavery is alive and well all over the world including here. Estimates are in the millions but don't quote me on that. From what little I have heard (no research but I kind of keep up on China since I lived there) young Chinese women/girls are being drug off by the truck load, young women coming across our southern border from Mexico and south America and a lot of runaways from here sold as sex slaves. What really gets me fired up is not just that there are people kidnapping them but there is a huge number of freaks that are buying them. Where do these people animals come from?
When you think about it though this has been going on from the beginning and is in recorded history from way back. It is just easier to spread the word now. Old women in some places still remove the clitoris from young girls and mothers sell their 7, 8, 9 year old daughters into prostitution so what's a little slavery amongst rich folks that can afford to pay the help and don't need a slave. Some people are so screwed up when it comes to greed and money a normal person can not comprehend how it can be happening.
Billions of dollars are spent catching and locking up non violent drug offenders and a pittance is spent to catch these people that are destroying lives on a daily basis. We should be allowed to vote on priorities.
And people get riled up about a damn flag or some fish that is going to die because it has no water. I keep thinking we have heard the worst then tomorrow comes.
Lets see, have I covered just about everything? Nah, not possible so watch for the new news pissing and moaning tomorrow. Jim

I'm not sure? Any of these countries ever change there flag due to slavery? By the way I have always liked that flag. Just thought it looked cool. Never gave me an inclination towards the thoughts of violence. Here's some information on the Confederate flag, spiritstone. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_AmericaWhile looking up info to share with you about the flag, I checked out the Great Seal of the Confederate States of America. I thought, hmm, I've seen that image before, and sure 'nuf, I have 2 trivets of it that belonged to my grandmother. Here's some photos I took of the pair of trivets with a trivet of a dogwood that also belonged to her. trivet of the Great Seal of the Confederate States of America back of trivet "The seal prominently features George Washington on horseback, in the same position as the 1858 Virginia Washington Monument, located adjacent to the Confederate Capitol in Richmond, Virginia. Washington is pictured in his uniform of the Revolution securing American independence. Washington was a model for the Confederacy due to his importance in founding a new nation. He was a model in personal character, a military leader for independence, a new nation's political leader, and, not unimportantly for the Confederacy, a slaveholder. Washington is surrounded with a wreath, which is made of some of the main agricultural products of the Confederate States: wheat, corn, tobacco, cotton, rice and sugar cane. The top margin of the seal features the words "The Confederate States of America: 22 February 1862". This date on the seal commemorates the establishment of the Government of the Confederate States of America in Richmond, Virginia with the inauguration of Jefferson Davis after the only Confederate general election, and is also Washington's birthday. The bottom margin contains the national motto, Deo Vindice (variously translated as "Under God, [Our] Vindicator", "With God as [Our] Champion", "With God as [Our] Judge", and "Under the Guidance and Protection of God"). The Confederate Senator Thomas Semmes, in proposing this motto, took pains to stress that the CSA had "deviated in the most emphatic manner from the spirit that presided over the construction of the Constitution of the United States, which is silent on the subject of the Deity." Source: wikipedia The Great Seal of the Confederate States of America Photo: wikipedia Rick and I were watching ABC World News Now this morning and the reporters were talking about how the White Supremacy flag would be removed from the capitol grounds in SC. We looked at each other and said what? to the comment about calling the Confederate flag a White Supremacy flag. jamesp, on WSB-TV Atlanta this morning, they discussed the Confederate flag will come down at the state capitol in SC. Then they mentioned there is a push to have the flag removed from Stone Mountain. Georgia state representative, LeDawn Jones, and she said her office has been flooded with e-mails and messages (some were threatening) with a push to move the Confederate flag from state property. She said this is a conversation Georgia needs to have, and now is the time to have it. The news reporter commented that the Sons of the Confederate Veterans said it was established as a memorial and should remain there. Just realized that Ben Jones that starred as Cooter in the "Dukes of Hazzard," and prior GA congressman, is the Sons of the Confederate Veterans spokesperson. Anyone notice that there has not been any mention of the Black Confederate troops that served? blackconfederates.blogspot.com/ETA: Just heard that the KKK was fighting to adopt a highway in Georgia. Oh Hell No! www.cnn.com/2015/07/09/us/kkk-highway-court-georgia/

Lots of confusion about the flag. Hate mongers have caused most of the riff. Many blacks are all for the flag. Problems stem from some blacks calling others 'Uncle Toms', favoring the white perspective etc. It is a segregation within. A toe hold for militance in some cases. KKK allowed to carry on, of course they have 1st Ammend rights. So be it, damage done, flag in the middle of the racist attitude. Govt flies flag, blacks insulted, govt. blamed for bigotry. Govt. must/does give in. An opportunity to fly the flag. We the people have 1st Ammend rights. Interpret as you will. Fly it to your heart's content.
When the issue of the Confederate Flag is settled with our dear govt., more issues will come up and the same batch of folks will begin their next crusade. Beating the govt. is not beating the people. Those bitching are a minority. But they get heard on an unweighted basis. Interesting concept in a majority rule country. Easy for controversial issues to throw balance off. And controversy is big business in our changing country. Attacking an openly displayed historically significant flag is great instrument of exposure of how things are changing.

Well, it's past 10am - I reckon the flag has now been lowered at the South Carolina state house.
so... Racism is over!!!
We can forever point back to this day as the end of the racial troubles in America. If anyone tries to play the race card in the future, simply tell them we ended all that when the flag went away and that they are just hate mongers.
