I got contacted by a big company that does exhibits wanting a Petoskey sphere for some deal they are working on for a hospital in northern Michigan. I hate doing custom work but it sounded like a cool opportunity. They were looking to make the sphere into the bottom of a pendulum that would be swung and draws patterns in a big sand pit thingy. It would be in the cancer ward for the patients. I met with the guys the other day and brought some larger finished spheres I had done and a mixed Petoskey core I had yet to sphere. They ended up liking the core best and just wanted me to polish that! They wanted the top and bottom unpolished. They gave me a big tour of their place and showed me the projects they were working on. I almost felt important for a minute...then went home and got filthy in my garage working on it. It has a nice mix of Petoskey, a little crystal, a bunch of pyrite spots, and a little Charlevoix stone mixed in. Not the most creative thing I've worked on, but it may end up in a cool place. I'm waiting to find out if it is approved. Here it is about finished, shown wet (it's 3.5 inches wide):

Awesome!!! Those are the fun type of jobs to get, projects to be a part of. I hope when the project is completed and they have installed it, they allow you to take credit for it. Would be nice to get some more business out of it.

I dropped it off Thursday. I'm still waiting to hear if it's a go or if they want a full Petoskey stone instead. I think they are starting to install in November-ish. I'm sure I'll get some pics of it eventually. Here is the company website: www.xibitz.com/
