Ok, this might sound weird but it reminds me of a cross cut of a horse's hoof ... something about the stringy stuff on the bottom. ETA: Like so (Link to a bloody pic, don't click if you're queasy) Don't mind me, I used to teach horse anatomy classes, lol.
